About the Author
William Teale is Professor, University Scholar, and Director of the Center for Literacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His work was central to bringing forth the concept of emergent literacy, and he has published widely in the field for the past 35 years.
Dr. Karen Wood has been training literacy specialists for over 25 years at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she is a Professor in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education. Dr. Wood is a published author and former reading teacher, reading specialist, and K 12 instructional coordinator, and much of her writing focuses on translating research and theory into classroom practice across all subjects and grade levels.

McGraw Hill is perfect for 4th grade learning

I've bought and reviewed other McGraw Hill books and this one is no different. I think this is my 8th book through them and they are great. They are spot on with age appropriateness and still manage to keep it fun. My girls are always excited to see these books in the mail because they love them as much as I do. The exercises are helpful and they have a companion work book that gives extra problems for each section.
I've said it before, but I love this series. They are great and you can use them right up through the years so your child doesn't have to get used to a different format every time.

Excellent for homeschoolers.

I am homeschooling my almost 4th grade daughter. The setup of this language arts book is fantastic. Easy to follow and it doesn't require much teacher preparation. It has an excellent combination of grammar and writing skills. We are so pleased with McGraw Hill and plan to continue using their line of reading and language arts books.

Very good book, fast shipping and very happy with purchase. Fits well with school cirriculm. Not my child's best subject but the examples and extra practice exercises help reinforce skills.
